Club vs. Modern Axe - Which Weapon is Better with Full Damage Upgrades? | The Forest

In this video, I compare the speeds of both the Club and Modern Axe, which have been upgraded to produce the highest raw damage output possible using 14 booze and 16 teeth. The Modern Axe suffers from an enormous speed penalty when fully upgraded with damage. In fact, despite what hovering over the weapon in your backpack would tell you, its speed becomes lower than the upgraded Club's. What's interesting is that without upgrades, the Club is already inferior to the Modern Axe in terms of speed, though the Club's damage values always surpass the Modern Axe's. Due to this anomaly, the Club could be a more attractive choice if you look to end fights as quickly as possible. However, the Club consumes stamina much faster than the axe, deterring its usage in larger-scale fights. It comes down to personal preference. Both weapons are extremely viable and sit atop the pedestal as perhaps the best non-ranged weapons in this game. Personally, I prefer to use the Club over the Modern Axe, as adding damage upgrades to the axe slows down the speed at which it cuts trees. Lately, however, I have found that adding 16 feathers instead of teeth along with the 14 booze pretty much negates the tremendous speed penalty, while still giving the weapon a decent boost in damage.
