Kate Raworth: Doughnut Economics, from theory to practice

Six years after the publication of her bestselling book Doughnut Economics, Kate Raworth looked back at the way her ideas were received and have been put into practice all over the world. During the annual Gaia Lecture, organised by Wetenschappelijk Bureau GroenLinks, she also looked forward and dicussed the political changes that are needed to implement the Doughnut at the national level as well as the ways in which communities, companies and individual citizens can start applying the Doughnut right now. After the lecture, a panel consisting of Yasmin Ait Abderrahman, chairperson of the young Dutch labour movement, author and economist Paul Schenderling and Senna Maatoug, member of parliament for GroenLinks, discussed the lecture with Raworth. At the end of the event, the annual Gaia Essay Award was presented to Jolijn Hooghwinkel for her essay on the need for economic democracy.
