A Snowy Day in a Mountain Village | Winter Cooking & Daily Life

Today the village woke up covered in snow. It was bitterly cold and stormy, but daily village life had to go on. Early in the morning, I gathered firewood from under the snow and lit the wood stove to keep the house warm. In the bitter cold, my sister washed the vegetables and fruits, while I cooked outside in the snow. I slowly cooked the chicken with milk, peas and potatoes on the wood stove, mashed everything together and mixed it with the shredded chicken, vegetables, spices and eggs. The food was slowly fried and served with fresh local bread baked by my mother. After feeding the animals, we sat inside our mud house and enjoyed a warm homemade meal together.
