Buy me a coffee: buymeacoffee.com/r3ciprocity Listen to my new podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast... How do you ask for a letter of recommendation from a professor? The key idea of asking for a letter recommendation is to put yourself in their shoes. There are many things to think about when you asked for a letter recommendation: 1. Does the professor know you enough? Did you do well in the class? If you don’t know them well, get to know them. If you can feel comfortable that the professor knows and likes you, than it is acceptable to ask them for a letter of reference. 2. How can you make the process easier for them? In the email for the letter recommendation, I would send them additional documents: (1) prewritten letter by you to make it easier for them, (2) a 1 page bullet point sheet of interesting facts not on your resume, (3) your resume / CV, and (4) a plan of what you are going to be doing in the future. Your goal is to make the letter of recommendation process simple and easy for them. 3. How can you demonstrate that you will make them proud? The key aspect behind a letter recommendation is that you are getting a vote of confidence. How is it that you are going to make the proud to write this letter? 4. Always be grateful. Your job is to check in and let them know how grateful you are of their support. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements. https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money. The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
