This helps check whether there is any hard stool, blockage, mass, or abnormality in the rectal area. 2. Wireless Motility Capsule Test: This is a modern diagnostic test in which the patient swallows a small capsule that looks like a tablet. As it travels through the digestive system—from the stomach to the small intestine, large intestine, and rectum—it records information about pH levels, acidity, pressure, and movement of the gut. This helps doctors understand how the digestive system is functioning. 3. Anorectal Manometry: This test uses a small tube with balloons attached to it. The tube is inserted into the rectum, and it measures the pressure and muscle function of the rectum and anal sphincter. The recorded data helps doctors understand whether the muscles involved in bowel movements are working properly. 4. Balloon Expulsion Test: In this test, a small balloon is inserted into the rectum and filled with water. The patient is then asked to push and expel the balloon, similar to passing stool. This test evaluates the patient’s ability to expel stool and identifies problems with pelvic floor or anal muscles.
