The crew and I paddle the Middle & Lower Haw River. We put in at the Bynum Dam at NC Hwy15-501 access and paddled down to Robeson Creek Paddle Access on Jordan Lake. The River level was reading 346 CFS on the Bynum Gauge - https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nc/nwis/uv.... This is bordering an ELF flow - Extra Low Flow. I have run it as low as 230 CFS with a loaded sea kayak on my 2013 source to sea expedition. 346 is still a comfortable although slightly scootchie run. Caution should be used when running these sections (esp the lower) at proper flows. Whitewater kayaks, gear and class 3 skills should be considered mandatory. However, at these lower flows, there is fun to be had by all. Enjoy! Want the most out of roll and surfing practice?
