What are these structures installed on an Airplane & Why are they installed?

In this video we look at something that is found on the trailing edge of almost all the commercial aircraft. This structure is mostly found on the wings and on some aircraft on the fuselage or the wings as well. These components are called as fairings and play an important role in reducing the operating cost of the aircraft. Fairings are used to reduce the drag because of certain systems or parts by creating a smooth profile around it. We look at what are flap track fairings and why they are installed and also look at how the flap operation takes place along with the fairing movement.
