Swapo party MP Elifas Dingara said demonstrations of practical nation-building, creating value, supporting food security and contributing to economic transformation transcend political debate. Dr Dingara said this during his resignation remarks from the National Assembly, which he served since 2010. 61-year-old Dr Dingara submitted his resignation from Parliament, stating that his commitment to public service will continue but will now take a different form. He indicated that he intends to transition into the agricultural sector, aligning his next chapter with Namibia's development priorities under the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) and broader national development strategies. "One of Namibia's key priority sectors under NDP 6 and the National Development Strategies is agriculture and agro-processing. This sector is central to strengthening the agricultural value chain, increasing productivity, enhancing national food security, and advancing agro-industrialisation. As one wise person said, agriculture is to agree with culture. I have chosen to contribute directly to this vital sector." He said his decision is aimed at demonstrating that political leaders can also become productive economic actors beyond the political arena. As MPs paid their respect to him for his service in the August house, he encouraged them to govern with courage and to think beyond tradition. Dingara, who is also Chairperson of the Urban, Rural Development and Land parliamentary standing committee, is expected to be replaced by Christine Haindaka, who is next on the Swapo Party's parliamentary list.
