Charlie Adelson was arrested and jailed in April 2022. He is suspected of being one of the masterminds of the murder for hire plot to kill his former brother-in-law, Florida State University law professor Dan Markel. Markel and Wendi Adelson, Charlie's younger sister, had been in a contentious divorce and custody case, where Wendi wanted to move back to the Miami area with their two sons, but the judge denied her request. Markel was shot in the head in his garage on July 18, 2014.
