Today we are going to talk about two prepositions which are “对” and “给”, these two words are very useful in oral Chinese. My students always ask me a question that “what’s the difference between ‘对’and ‘给’” ? They often make mistakes in translation. If you have this problem too, I will help you solve it by today’s video. “对” has many meanings, the main meaning is “to”. In oral Chinese there are several frequently used structures. 1) A对B说/A对B笑 2) 对+sth.+感兴趣/有兴趣 “be interested in+sth.” “给”can be a verb or a preposition. As a verb, it means “to give”. A给B+sth. A给B+V.
