Nature's Symphony: The Prairie Warbler Song (Setophaga discolor). The Prairie Warbler is a small warbler, generally yellow in color with black stripes on the sides and a unique facial pattern. The upper parts of the Prairie Warbler are a duller olive green. Reddish stripes on the back are distinctive but may be difficult to see or absent in immatures. The long tail is often pumped up and down. The Prairie Warbler forages for insects in a variety of shrubby habitats, from cedar-filled grasslands to regenerating forests and Florida mangroves.
