PJ Gibbs and Jason Mohns began the discussion by reflecting on their initial meeting through USA Football about a decade ago, which led to Mohns detailing his coaching journey from youth sports in Scottsdale to becoming the tight end coach at Arizona State University. Mohns outlined Arizona State's recruiting strategy, which focuses on authentic high school coach relationships, defined geographical areas including Southern California and central Texas, and a preference for "complete" and versatile tight ends for their tempo-based offense. The conversation concluded with Mohns sharing his favorite offensive concepts, the "midzone search" run and the "toggle route" pass, and inviting high school coaches to visit their spring practice sessions starting March 18th. Arizona State is scheduled to start spring ball on March 18th. The team typically practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mohns welcomed visiting coaches to reach out and offered their social media handle, @CoachMohns, and email address, jason.mohns@asu.edu, for high school coaches interested in visiting the program.
