Well... surprise?! 😅 Here's a groovy attempt at an 80s version of "In the Closet", this time it's the 12" extended version. ✨😏 This one has been in the vault for a while. Thank you to @annyvee_ (aka "Mystery Girl) for providing the female spoken word parts! Not only is she the "mystery girl", but she's the Birthday girl as it's her birthday today! 🖤 So for that reason alone, I felt I'd release one final song from the "Forever" album before letting y'all wait until it drops on the 29th! 📅 Thank you all for the support, and you ain't seen NOTHIN' yet! 🤘🏾💯 Michael Jackson - "Forever" ♾️ Available on YouTube, August 29th! 📅 DOWNLOAD LINK: https://mega.nz/folder/apoUyZ4A#cQjZg... ALL REMIXES: https://mega.nz/folder/G8hhUKBZ#BQe3g... The original version of “In the Closet” was leaked by American producer Eulonzo on August 15th, 2021. It was unknown this version existed. Although fans are familiar with the version that was released on the “Dangerous” album, it has been revealed that “In the Closet” was originally written and recorded in 1984 during the Victory sessions with his brothers, specifically Marlon, who cro-wrote it with him. It’s rumored to be a song that Marlon was supposed to sing, but due to him having a cold at the time, Michael went on ahead and provided all of the vocals. This was produced by The Jacksons and co-produced by Joe Kehr, who Michael met through Greg Phillinganes. Maceo Parker is rumored to be playing the horns towards the end on the extended 12" version. At some point during the making of the song, Michael felt it needed a female guest (or “Mystery Girl”), so Joe brought in Princess Ana-Maria of Florence. Michael and Ana-Maria instantly connected due to their love of children, so it didn’t take them long for them to record her vocals. The song was finished within a week. Shortly after they finished the song, Michael felt that it was too inappropriate for the Victory album, or for any of his own upcoming albums, so the song was ultimately shelved. However, most of the elements of the song were used for “Body”, which ended up on the “Victory” album.
