The Ballad of Steel, Ale, Shadow and Gear Verse I In ages when virtue had faded to dust on forgotten stones, when sins crept through cities like rats through abandoned homes, there rose from smoke, from noise, from magic, scrap and flame, a fellowship so strange that fate itself forgot their name. There marched Rheiner, forged of steel, ancient, dented, scarred yet proud, a construct with a bound soul, walking iron among the crowd. His steps rang out like hammers on the anvil of old wars, no living man stood half as firm as he on broken floors. Verse II Beside him swayed with tankard raised and laughter in his throat, Batida, druid of the brew, in ale and spirits soaked. Round as a barrel, loud as feasts, smelling of forest and beer, he spoke with ghosts like drinking friends and held no death in fear. Where others sought for wisdom in tomes of dust and light, Batida found enlightenment in the third drink of the night. Verse III In shadows moved a quiet grin, a dagger thin and sly, the gnome called Robert, small as doubt, precise as a whispering lie. Locks surrendered to his touch, purses wept in dismay, and those who mocked his size were usually missing by midday. He was the hush before the fall, the stab before the scream, the proof that deadly often comes in forms that seem unseen. Verse IV And whirring close with sparks and smoke and gears that clicked in rhyme, came Vermitch, mad inventor, arguing softly with time. His coat was filled with ticking things no sane mind understood, yet somehow all his madness worked… more often than it should. Where Vermitch tinkered, physics bent and reason stepped aside, for reality to him was just a draft that hadn’t dried. Verse V And always there, with gentle eyes and fur of quiet grace, walked Noodels the panda, heart and calm of this chaotic place. No warrior, mage, nor rogue was he, no weapon did he bear, yet Noodels held them all as one when madness filled the air. Chorus Raise your mugs and sing it loud where tavern fires burn bright! Of steel and ale and shadowed steps and gears that spark the night! When sin arises in the world, in gold or crown or throne, these five will walk the road again — and never walk alone! Verse VI They faced down Pride in blinding halls where ego crowned the air, and taught that even arrogance can learn the weight of care. They watched as Greed consumed itself, its hollow shell undone, devoured by its hunger for the shine of borrowed sun. They crossed through lands where Envy sowed its poison in the heart, yet kindness grew like stubborn hops that refused to fall apart. Final Verse Still now in taverns stories spread of steel and brew and flame, of daggers quick and gadgets wild and a panda none can tame. And when the whispers speak of sin returning to the land, folk grin and say with knowing eyes and tankards in their hand
