From the pilot: "I took off normally and conducted the usual initial safety checks (all controls functioning normally) and everything was ok. Mid-flight the drone lost GPS signal, and it's collision detection system failed. As part of our process for missions we review the safety procedures including actions on some kind of failure prior to launching. So I knew exactly what I needed to do. Initially I waited a few seconds to see if the Aircraft would re-acquire GPS. During which time I assessed the risk and decided that I could fly it back to my location (having trained to fly in non GPS or ATTI mode as part of our safety mitigations), I brought the aircraft closer to me and prepared for a manual landing. The aircraft was drifting due to wind (and the lack of GPS) but it was within the capability of the aircraft, and I as the pilot. Once the aircraft was over level ground (the green) I brought it down for landing, due to the collision detection system failure it was quite bumpy, but I was pleased with it for a fully manual landing. I then followed our safety procedures and powered off the whole system, before removing the props and restarting it again to see whether the issue persisted. It didn't and I was back up and flying approximately 20 minutes later."
