Zoom Horny Toad BullFrog Topwater Bass Fishing

Tried out the Zoom Horny Toad Soft Plastic Frog in Bullfrog color at Pond X which has been covered in matted vegetation lately, these last few weeks so decided to give this bait a try here. I paired the Zoom Horny Toad with a VMC Swimbait Hook Size 5/0 with a screw-in bait keeper, tied to my 50lb braid on a 7' medium heavy fast action rod, to my h20 Express Motiv 7.1:1 gear ratio baitcaster. I must say, it did remarkably well and I was able to burn it, slow it down and let it go subsurface, and even jigging it around the pockets and holes of the matted areas. I figured that a floating frog wouldn't have worked as well as most of our bites tonight were either just below the surface as this soft plastic frog sank or slow rolling it to create wake/noise with its paddled tail design.
