Dosewallips River Road - Bike N' Hike

The first actual Bike N' Hike trip where i actually ride a bike for the channel is up the Dosewallips River Road. The road used to be open all the way to the Dosewallips River Campground inside Olympic National Park. But, in 2002 a landslide came down and wiped the road out roughly 5.5 miles from the CG. The road is closed roughly 1 mile from the landslide, making it a 6.5 mile hike or bike to the CG. It took me about 2.5 hours to ride upstream to the CG, and about an hour to come down. Along with a detour to get around the landslide, there were 2 other portions of road being impacted by nature, which added to the time. One of these impacts was at Dosewallips Falls, where the roaring cataract was washing away the cribbing keeping the roadway up.
