Today' s video features "Himlens Klare Stjerner" - the Danish version of the classic "Heimat, deine Sterne" composed by Werner Bochmann and Erich Knauf for the 1941 comedy "Quax, der Bruchpilot" (Quax, the Crash Pilot). This Danish version was recorded for Odeon in 1942. Sven Gyldmark (1904-81) was a Danish composer and bandleader who was active on the stage as well as in Danish cinema. The featured singer is Johannes Wahl (1915-1994) - a blind singer and actor. The song seems to have had considerable success in Denmark with several newer versions being recorded in the following decades. The video features sequences from "Quax, der Bruchpilot" which have been restored and upscaled to a 4K resolution. They were then colorized mostly manually and purely for entertainment purposes. The colorization is NOT historically correct but it tries to recreate the warm colors of early Agfacolor movies and does give an impression of what the sets and costumes may have looked like.
