Before playing this work, Martin told us, “Imagine that you’re at a beach in Bali, enjoying the view, and from the distance you hear a song accompanied by a gamelan.” [ ARTIST ] Martin Kesuma | pianist, educator, doctoral student [ ABOUT THE MUSIC ] Jaya Suprana (b. 1949) is an Indonesian composer, pianist, educator, cartoonist, and television presenter. His work, “Tembang Alit”, imitates the traditional Balinese instrument, the gamelan.
