As the main flagship lift for Deer Valley’s expanded excellence project for the 2024-25 season, the Keetley Express rises from the new East Village to a point called Sultan’s Nose where one can ski the front facing runs like Lady Of The Lake, Overlooked or more, or accessing Sultan or Mayflower. Keetley is named after a ghost town northeast of the Jordanelle Reservoir that got submerged during the lake’s construction. This is the second D-Line in Utah after the Crest 6 installation at Brighton last year, however, it is the first one in Utah with bubbles and footrests. In addition, unlike many D-Line installs across the U.S, this lift doesn’t have a direct drive and is slightly louder but still quiet overall. Keetley also features the first European Towers at a ski area to be painted a different color other than the galvanized-grey and I love that it was the typical dark-green color scheme found on other lifts around the resort. This lift doesn’t have parking I believe for now since the parking barn at the top has yet to start construction. The chairs include the dark-green seats with grey bubbles with the Deer Valley logo visible from the back of the chairs. Next winter, Keetley and it’s neighbor Hoodoo (closed that day) will be joined by the massive East Village 2-stage gondola, the Hail Peak Express and Neptune Express as the East Village becomes a more proper base area for skiers coming from Salt Lake and Provo without going through the town of Park City. This lift is not only the big start of expanded excellence but the beginning of a massive project that will eventually include 17 total lifts.
