ProSeal provides a proximal seal for vacuum sockets in transfemoral fittings. The system consists of the ProSeal ring and ProSeal SIL liner; it is easy to handle for you and your customer. The ProSeal ring is individually integrated in the proximal area of the socket. In the interplay with the ProSeal SIL liner, a larger effective vacuum surface is thereby created, ensuring a comfortable and effective hold for the prosthesis. Indications • Transfemoral amputees • Minimum residual limb length 13 cm • MOBIS grade 2–4 • Recommended for use in vacuum sockets with the 21Y21 ClickValve Size selection on the basis of the plaster positive • To determine the required ring, measure th circumference 30 – 50 mm below the perineum on the plaster positive. • The rings may be inserted slightly askew to the longitudinal axis of the socket. The ring should be at least 30 – 50 mm below the socket brim (perineum region). • The rings are available in size steps of 2 cm. Use the next larger size for measurements between the available ring sizes. 30–50 mm ⌀ 1cm red. 50 mm Reducing the Plaster Positive • We recommend taking the plaster cast over the liner. The socket should be of the ischial containment type. Reduce the circumference of the resulting plaster positive at the proximal 5 cm (measured from the perineum) by 1 cm (2 %). Do not reduce the rest of the plaster positive. The reduction refers to the circumferences measured on the residual limb covered by the liner. (see Fig. 2) • Pay attention to soft, round shaping when reducing.
