Black Sheep Best Bitter is one of the most recognisable Yorkshire ales around. Brewed in Masham since 1992 and sitting at 3.8%, it’s a proper British classic, but after a turbulent few years for the brewery, the question is… does it still deliver? It looks exactly how you’d want a bitter to look. Good head, light carbonation, and that familiar golden hue. But flavour-wise, this one is surprisingly dry and zesty, with lemon and citrus notes that push it closer to a pale ale than a traditional rounded, malty bitter. Not bad by any means, just different from what some might expect. Is Black Sheep still one of the best bitters on supermarket shelves… or has it changed over time?
