Hi friends! Welcome to another video monday! In this day in a life of an ICU nurse, I'm going to take you through what we do in the ICU. You'll be seeing my night shift routine and hopeful find out a little bit more of the structure of what people do in the ICU! I'll run you through assessment, workflow, and structure. DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind, this is only a glimpse. Patient care is my main priority. I remember when I was a student that I did not have an ICU rotation, I was looking for resources on what working on an ICU would be like but did not find much. For preceptorship, I had a feeling that I wanted to do ICU but did not know exactly what that entailed it was a 50/50 chance that I would enjoy the ICU or hate it. Luckily i loved it and found a home in the surgical ICU! I hope that this gives nursing students or nurses transitioning to ICU a glimpse of what ICU shifts look like and I hope you realize this comes out of a place of wanting to help future nurses/future ICU nurses.
