4th movement from the Prog-Rock Epic "The Last Hours of SlugZilla! Available on Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music and all major download and streaming services from 27th Feb 2026! #progressiverock #rockinstrumentals #conceptalbum #mellotron #oddtimesignatures * * * * SlugZilla is a slug with a fearsome reputation! But the only thing fearsome about Zilla is his size. And his appetite. Glooping through a suburban garden one evening, Zilla’s fud-detection circuitry goes into overdrive: a huge pile of hedgehog food is wafting its delicious fragrance down-wind to Zilla’s slug-nostrils (slostrils?). Slugzilla cares not that food be earmarked for hedgehogs - he’s going to get that tasty grub down his neck no matter who it’s supposed to be for. Drawn like one half of a pair of freshly-washed socks to a hole in the space-time continuum, Zilla eagerly diverts his course and fervently slithers at maximum speed to the tasty banquet. It’s going to be a long schlep but the rewards will be legendary. Upon his arrival at the delicious destination, Slugzilla opens his mouth wide as he can and, taking a deep breath, shoves his face into the copious fud and starts scoffing. And guzzling. And snarfing. The local mice arrive to cheer him on, and SlugZilla snarfs, until even he can snarf no more. Stuffed to the gills (or the slug equivalent), Slugzilla's eyes become heavy and he falls into a deep sleep. We’ve all done it. As he snoozes, Zilla’s overworked stomach starts to struggle, knocking on Zilla’s unconscious slug-brain to complain - and Zilla starts to dream. A deep, satisfied snooze turns into a thick, uncomfortable phantasm, which subsequently turns into a feverish hallucination where copious nasty bogey-monsterz of the night are descending now to gorge on poor old freshly-gorged SlugZilla! With an agility only available to slugs in dreams, Zilla ducks and dives, and bobs and weaves to try to evade the menaces, but even then is too slow. As he turns to see a mighty set of fangs bear down on him, Zilla wakes with a start.. At this point our hero - in reality a sensitive and delicate soul - -realises that despite his fearsome size and reputation, he’s just a humble slug, and starts to lament his lowly position in the food chain. Head spinning, he sets off for a melancholy trudge in the dark to contemplate his purpose in life as nothing more than food for bigger, badder predators. But it’s night, his tiny slug eyes have misted over, and he slithers headlong into the pond. He's still there when daybreak comes, floating upside-down, tiny slug-eyes now sightlessly gazing fixedly on a traumatised frog at the bottom of the pond. * * * * Ducks and Coffee are, for this album: Coleby Louth-Bitchfield - piano, organ, vibraphone Carlton Scroop - synths and programming, Fender Rhodes, Mellotron Martin Gayton le Marsh - guitar Newton Bytoft - upright and fretless bass Sibsey - batterie Special guests Thornton Curtis - bassoon Mavis Enderby - flute Cherry Willingham - oboe/clarinet Thorpe Culvert - horns, Burton Coggles - string arangements
