Fresh Lime Dishwashing Liquid : How do I adjust pH level? This video will show you how to make dishwashing liquid by adding fresh lime juice. And how do I adjust pH level if it's more acidic or basic (alkaline). Fresh lime juice will help removing grease stains and food odours with the natural lime scent. Ingredients 30g SLES70% (Texapon N70) 30g Salt ( I use normal cooking salt without iodine ) 70g Fresh Lime Juice 370g Tap water ( Let chlorine evaporate at least 24 hours ) 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda ( Sodium Bicarbonate ) Extra : Some teaspoons of fresh lime juice and baking soda for adjusting pH level of dishwashing liquid. Adding fresh lime juice will give acidity to dishwashing liquid, so I mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda into the water to form an alkaline solution. This method helps to raise the pH level a little bit of dishwashing liquid. I check the pH level when the dishwashing liquid already done and adjust the pH as close as possible to neutral (pH7). Normally neutral cleaner will have a pH at 7 to 8. Lime juice has a pH at 2 to 3. Baking soda has a pH at 9. In this video, the first test ( based on 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda ), the pH is around 3 to 4 that means it's still more acidic. The second test, I add another 4 times of 1/8 teaspoonful of baking soda. This time, the colour is more purple. It's still alkaline. The third test, I adjust by adding a little bit of fresh lime juice until the pH is close to 7 that make dishwashing liquid more mild, gentle and comfortable for using. Although if you add the same amount of baking soda and lime juice like me, the pH maybe not the same as me. I would like you to test and try to adjust the final pH by yourself. The key is adding baking soda if your dishwashing liquid is more acidic, and adding lime juice if it's more basic ( alkaline ). That's it!. Just test & try it!. This formulation doesn't have preservative. It can last up to 2 weeks. If the dishwashing liquid looks different like any change in texture or smell, just throw it out and make the new batch.
