Bruce Springsteen & Bon Jovi - Live at the Musicares Person of the Year (02/02/2024)

"Who Says You Can't Go Home" is a song by Bon Jovi, written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora fort heir 9th album Have a Nice Day (2005). The song was produced by John Shanks, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. A version of the song was also shipped to country music radio, featuring duet vocals from Jennifer Nettles of the duo Sugarland. The country music version was originally recorded as a duet with Keith Urban, who also played banjo on the song. Bruce performs at the annual MusiCares Person Of The Year benefit, paying tribute to honoree Jon Bon Jovi. Hosted by Jim Gaffigan, the event also features performances by Bon Jovi, Melissa Etheridge, Jason Isbell, Shania Twain, Brandy Clark, Jelly Roll, Goo Goo Dolls, Damiano David of Måneskin, Marcus King, The War And Treaty, and Lainey Wilson; Gayle King and Kylie Minogue are on hand as presenters. Jon Bon Jovi said during an interview on the red carpet: "To have Bruce tonight sitting at my right and Sir Paul (McCartney) sitting at my left is surreal. These are icons on top of icons, you know the greatest of the greats and to be in a room with them and to actually be able to call them friend is one of the great honors of my life." Springteen's mother, Adele Springsteen, died on Wednesday at age 98. Bon Jovi said in his acceptance speech: "I would have understood if Springsteen, who I call a friend and mentor, had canceled his appearance. But he wanted to be here tonight for MusiCares, and he wanted to be here tonight for me, and I'm forever grateful." He performed the song once before that: 2012-12-12 Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band join Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and others at Madison Square Garden to benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund’s Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts in the tri-state area.
