This is a chase of CSX C786 coal drag up the famous Cranberry Grade between M&K Jct. at Rowlesburg WV. to Terra Alta WV. This grade is 11 miles and the grade ranges between 2.4% up to 2.8% and is the steepest mainline grade in the east. Typically, CSX runs 100 car coal trains with 2 units on the headend, a single DPU locomotive 50 cars back and a two-unit manned helper on the rear. This line is the CSX former B&O mountain subdivision between Cumberland MD and Grafton WV.
