So as you all know I was at home Diwali, during my visit I Hidden between the dense deodar forests of Himachal Pradesh lies a land so magical, even time seems to move slower here — welcome to Khajjiar, the ‘Mini Switzerland of India.’ 🌲🏞️ But what if I told you… this peaceful meadow has a history older than the Himalayas’ snow? Centuries ago, Khajjiar wasn’t just a tourist spot — it was a sacred land dedicated to the serpent god Khajji Nag. The ancient Khajji Nag Temple, built in the 12th century by the rulers of Chamba, still stands in the middle of pine woods — a symbol of devotion and mystery. 🐍⛪ The temple’s wooden carvings whisper stories from the Mahabharata, where the Pandavas once rested here during their exile. Legend says the lake beside the temple — Khajjiar Lake — was once guarded by the serpent god himself! And then, centuries later in 1992, a Swiss envoy visited and declared Khajjiar as one of the few places in the world that resemble Switzerland — same topography, same beauty, same charm.
