'Preston Dock Bullnose and Locks'
This is a 3minute film of the bullnose entrance and locks which connect Preston Marina with the river. It includes aerial photos of the dock as it was in its heyday and of how it looks today. I was lucky to be there when the swing bridge opened to allow entrance to a boat. Many great ships have passed through these locks since the official opening of The Albert Edward Dock on 25th June 1892 when it was the largest single dock in the country, if not also in Europe. The Preston Digital Archive on Flickr is, of course, the best place to see archive photos of these ships and of Preston Docks and The Ribble. Link below.
