Art Film Project 1. Hannah Kim Hannah Kim was born in Pennsylvania, USA, and came to Korea when she was two. She regularly participates in exhibitions. Hannah’s work ranges from Korean painting, Drawing, and Video. Hannah created a moss-themed series using mixed media, including acrylics, stone powder, threads, and Asian pigments. She appreciates its mysterious green hues, freely curved shapes, and texture. The unexpected advantages of the object she drew gave some comfort and attracted the audience as an object of painting with an unknown sense of warmth. It is connected to the fact that nothing is meaningless and every living thing has a beautiful aspect. Kim makes Unexpected objects that traverse a painting and sculpture territory. Her work presents ideas of connection to the fact that nothing is meaningless and every living thing has beauty. Hannah lives and works in San Francisco CA. Statement The way I experience nature is the way I create art. Sometimes I want to hold my own nature in my heart, and I want to fall endlessly into it. For me, nature is a space of healing and origin. This is connected to two words, Wayou and Cheongshin, Eastern Philosophical terms used in the Art world. The word “wayou” refers to the practice of staying at home and appreciating landscape paintings hanging on the wall rather than going on a trip. “Wayou” is a spiritual liberation and freedom to contemplate the world beyond age and physical limitations. Cheongshin means making one’s body and spirit clean and fresh. Moss is a pioneer species, meaning it is the first living thing to grow in a new ecosystem. Moss sticks to the damp and thin state everywhere and takes root. Those characteristics overlapped with my desire to take root or take root in both Korea and the United States. I created a moss-themed series using mixed media, including acrylics, beads, stone powder, threads, and some Asian pigments. The air, wind, and sand surrounding me help make the paintings on canvas. Inspired by the elements of nature scattered around me, I pursue the fusion of painting and installation. I find comfort in unexpected processes and results.
