We will show you how to light an oil lamp using the Danforth Pewter Mariner Oil Lamp. Please note that instructions may vary for oil lamps not made by Danforth Pewter. First make sure the glass chimney, or globe, has been removed from the oil lamp burner. You can do this by gently pulling upwards on the chimney while holding the pewter base steady. 1. Gently twist the burner counter-clockwise, off from the base. 2. Pour in Ultra-Pure Paraffin Lamp Oil to 2/3 full in the lamp base.* 3. Twist the burner clockwise and hand tighten back onto the base. 4. Carefully adjust the filigree tines to fit glass chimney (this may take a few adjustments). 5. WAIT! Allow 15-20 minutes for the wick to soak before lighting. 6. Adjust wick to lower height before lighting. 7. Carefully light the wick, then put the glass chimney in place. 8. Adjust the wick for desired flame height and enjoy! 9. CAUTION: The glass chimney gets hot quickly! Allow 15-20 minutes of cooling time before handling the glass. 10. Turn off the Oil Lamp by adjusting the wick height down until the flame goes out. *Danforth Oil Lamps should only be used with Ultra-Pure Paraffin Oil. DO NOT use any other lighting substance for safety reasons.
