The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service has implemented the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) which is an individualised outcome measure which can be adapted for use with children, young people and their parents/carers to detect change in a client's self-perception of occupational performance over time. COPM is a client-centered outcome measure which fully involves the child or young person and their parents/carers in identifying goals and working collaboratively with the Occupational Therapist in order to achieve them. Views of children, parents/carers and other stakeholders such as teachers were sought and positive feedback was received regarding improved understanding of the unique role of occupational therapy in enabling children and young people to participate in everyday activities that are important to them. This video was created for the "Improving Services for Children and Young People (under 25s)" category at the KM&T Isle of Wight NHS Trust Awards in January 2015.
