Epic 10-Day Family Road Trip: Slovenia, Austria & Croatia

What do we know about Slovenia? Or actually, what are the first things that come to mind? Most will say Bled, Ljubljana, mountains, caves and castles. And if you ask a person who moved to Slovenia from somewhere else, be sure that they will mention how compact and diverse this region is. You can have your breakfast at the magnificent Wortersee, lunch in front of the unbelievable Predjama castle (I mean, just look at it, it’s literally built into the rock) and dine on the Adriatic shore of Piran. I come from Moscow, which is a huge city where it can take 3 hours just to drive across it. So it never ceases to amaze me, how you can watch the alpine snow, go to an underground cave and swim in the sea all in one day. But that is one of the major perks of liv7ing in Slovenia. You may ask, what is the biggest downside? To me it’s not being able to see relatives. Because they remained in Moscow and we all know that although video calls are helpful they are nowhere near the personal real life contact. In this video, I want to share a moment I had been waiting for so long. It was June 2023 — so it was 9 months since we moved from Russia to Slovenia. And as I said the hardest part of this journey was being away from the rest of my family. I missed them so much. And finally, after all those months apart, they came to visit. I was so happy and wanted to show them every corner of this beautiful country. Together with Roma we prepared routes that included some of the best places to visit. In just 10 days, we went on the most incredible adventures — we could start our mornings in the mountains and end the same day by the sea. We drove around half of Slovenia, had a brief tour of Austrian lakes and even spent a night at Croatian seaside. It was crazy, it was lovely, and it was so much fun.
