In this episode of #ScamAlert, we learn about the way scammers are using Facebook's Donation Fundraisers to scam people. I recently had an acquaintance that passed away, and scammers were able to find the fundraiser that his family set up to be able to provide some financial relief due to his death. Scammers were able to impersonate his brother and send messages to those who had already donated. They then directed them to an Amazon e-card and also even suggested using CashApp to get the money. Make sure you are vigilant on who you are donating to and if possible do it directly instead of through Facebook Donations. Also, beware of the Jury Duty scam that many scammers carry out also trying to receive gift cards. DO NOT GIVE ANYONE GIFT CARDS AS A FORM OF PAYMENT!
