A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded near Ranchi, Jharkhand, when an air ambulance carrying a injured burn patient crashed shortly after takeoff. The Beechcraft C90 aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways Private Limited, was en route from Ranchi to Delhi when it went down in a forested area near Simaria in Chatra district. 7 people, including the patient Sanjay Kumar, his wife Archana, the treating doctor Dr. Vikas Gupta, a paramedic, and two pilots, lost their lives in the crash. The family had reportedly arranged the air ambulance by borrowing ₹8 lakh to shift the 60% burn victim for advanced treatment in Delhi. Weather disturbances were reported shortly after takeoff, and authorities suspect a lightning strike may have caused the crash.
