The legendary musician Cab Calloway stars alongside the zoot-suited bandicoot who insists we all "Eat, Don't Hula!" Ah, brings back memories. Did either of the animated characters have names? That much, I don't remember - they're only listed as "The Bandicoot" and "The Hula Cutie" on the posters right at the beginning. I am, however, reliably informed that the original intention was for the girl to be Betty Boop, recreating the team-up with Cab of the Fleischer cartoons of the 1930s - but unfortunately the budget didn't stretch far enough to sign up both, so a more generic leading lady was created. I wonder if Who Framed Roger Rabbit was to blame for that. The animation may have been overseen by Ginger Gibbons of the Grand Slamm studios, but I've been unable to confirm that. If anyone knows more, please do enlighten us all in the comments... Recorded in either 1990 or 1991, but the ad itself could be slightly older than that. (Please remember that this is an off-air VHS recording, so don't go expecting 1080p HD quality. I'm fairly certain that this video isn't commercially available, and I've uploaded it for its historic interest only. That said, if you are a copyright holder and object, please don't hesitate to contact me.)
