This is a Tip Down base that when packed up for storage locks and protects you jigging rod in the base. Small and compact, fast setup and pack up. Costs around $4 to make. Suggested to use hardwood for the base but I used pine for these. Caution the notched end can be broken if the base freezes onto the ice and caution is not used when removing (hardwood will help prevent that). Dimension Links: https://goo.gl/photos/VYzrk49a4b4B9H6h6 Update 1/8/2019 The rods I used are the HT little jigger 25” rod (rod measures 24” + ~1” for the spring bobber). As far as balancing it depends on how much weight (sinkers) you are planning to have on the line (i use ~1/8 oz) to keep your minnow down. I have my nail/pin at 6 7/8” measuring from the rod butt. If you want it to trigger a little harder (better in windy situations) use 7”. I used a 10D finishing nail as the pivot pin in the rod. You also have a little adjustability on balance by moving the spring bobber in or out. As far as price i got my rods on sale at scheels (only thing i ever bought from them). They probably range from that to $7 or $8.
