This man fell for 10 seconds before impact. His identity remained a mystery for years. And his family denied it was him. On September 11th, 2001, photographer Richard Drew captured one of the most controversial images in history—a man falling from the North Tower, perfectly vertical, almost peaceful. The photo ran once in newspapers, then disappeared. America couldn't handle it. Editors called it exploitative. Families were outraged. But Drew believed this man deserved to be remembered. He spent years trying to identify him, with the leading theory pointing to Jonathan Briley, a 43-year-old sound engineer. But Briley's family refused to confirm it. They couldn't accept that he jumped. The photo that honored his final choice became the photo his family wanted erased from history. Some truths are too painful to accept.
