In 1962 the Passenger Railway Service from Ebbw Vale closed indefinitely. Although Freight Trains continued to use the same route for another four decades, it was not until 2001 and the final closure of the giant steelworks that the Ebbw Valley Branch Line fell into disrepair and decline. For six long years it became "The Forgotten Railway". The need for a skilled workforce to commute to other areas to find employment kick started a vigorous campaign to re-open the passenger service in 2008. Following a massive cash injection from the Welsh Assembly, that campaign was successful and Ebbw Vale became a Railtown once again. Using extensive footage from Jeremy Richards' personal cine collection we make the journey from Aberbeeg to Ebbw Vale in a by-gone Era. Using modern technology Glyn Walters returns us to the 21st Century as we board the train at Ebbw Vale Parkway and return to Aberbeeg 53 years later. "The Forgotten Railway" is forgotten no more.
