I explain the different types of marine paints used during dry docking including: • Epoxy primer coating • Tie coat application • Silicone foul release coating • Traditional biocide antifouling system • Anti-abrasion coating in parallel body areas • Special coatings used in sea chest and thruster tunnel areas Modern ships use advanced coating systems to reduce marine growth, improve fuel efficiency and protect the steel structure from corrosion.
