The systems must be technically up-to-date, plus all current laws must be complied with, and new environmental regulations implemented. The Water and Wastewater Industry Division of KROHNE is here to support you as effectively as possible. First of all, this visualization shows you the areas of application of our solutions, which cover both the water and the wastewater industries. In the upper half of the picture, the applications in the water industry are shown. Different methods of water extraction such as extraction from deep wells, seawater extraction plus desalination, and surface water extraction are in the foreground. These applications are followed by the different process steps in water treatment and, ultimately, the requirements of water distribution systems. The wastewater industry is illustrated in the lower half of the picture. The main applications here are in the sewer network, covering the main areas of interest such as the pumping stations and the storm-water basins. Finally, we deal with the applications in sewage treatment plants, monitoring such applications as the inlet flow, mechanical pre-treatment, biology, then sludge treatment and outlet flows. The main highlighted products being introduced into water management are the so-called multi-parameter measuring devices. For example, there are magnetic inductive flow meters with integrated conductivity measurement which allows conclusions to be drawn about the raw water quality during water extraction. KROHNE produces electromagnetic flowmeters in several production facilities around the world, which are applied to all applications in the water and wastewater sector. The range of nominal sizes starts at DN2.5mm, e.g. for the dosing of precipitant in sewage treatment plants and it ends at DN3000 for large water extraction lines from desalination plants. All flowmeters are individually wet calibrated in our factories: one of these in the Netherlands which has the largest and most precise calibration rig in the world. In addition to our flow measurement capability, our analytical measurement technology has a major role in the water and wastewater sector. Here, miniaturization of electronics allows the complete 4-20mA transmitter to be integrated directly inside the PH, ORP or conductivity sensors. This leads to considerable savings both in the installation cost and in the operation of each measurement point. In addition to these special measurement features, there are also customer-specific analytical panel solutions, which individually network all the required measurement parameters onto an installation board so that the customer can integrate this directly into his process. In the area of measurement solutions, we are now in a position to deliver complete W&WW skids - just like the comprehensive custody transfer system skids. These are delivered complete, from planning through to commissioning.
