Fun EATING 2,600 year old BREAD in CHINA! | China Life VLOG

A trip to a special bread shop in Gaoling. This shop is specializing in a truly ancient form of bred called the “Gaoling Stone Steamed Bun”. It’s basically bread but they call it a bun. It was interesting and the shop owner was very nice. Fun playing around and finding out how the bread was made, and theorizing western twists to help the bread taste better. Gaoling Stone Steamed Bun The legend about the stone steamed bun: after the Empress Dowager Cixi moved to Chang'an, she did not obey the water and soil, her spleen and stomach were not in order, and she did not have the appetite. After tasting the bun, it was praised by the folk and the symptoms were relieved immediately. It became a beautiful story. Gaoling stone steamed bun, also called dry bun, is an ancient food with peculiar production and unique flavor in Guanzhong area of Shaanxi. Due to its long history and primitive processing method, it is called the living "fossil" in Chinese food. Stone steamed bun is made by burning hot stone , which is crispy, salty and long-lasting, thus it is very popular among people.
