Ear Wax Removal from Ear that had previous Stapedectomy Surgery - Mr Neel Raithatha (THC)

The client had previously suffered from 'otosclerosis'. Otoslerosis is when the three middle-ear bones become stiffened which in turn causes the eardrum to become stiff and tense. As a result, sound is reflected away. This is usually due to a spongy bone growth developing on the stirrup (stapes) bone. This is the last of the three middle-ear bones and the smallest bone in the body. On form of treatment for this is surgical intervention by means of a 'Stapedectomy'. This is when the stapes bone is removed and replaced by a plastic bone (prosthesis). If successful, the three middle-ear bones become mobile again allowing sound to enter the middle-ear as opposed to reflecting it away. The client had soft ear wax which was quite lateral (towards outer part of ear canal) and was relatively straight forward to remove using E-suction (Endoscopic Ear Suction)
