Cigar Review – Camacho Corojo Today I am reviewing the Camacho Corojo cigar – it’s a classic cigar that has been around a long time, it was first introduced in 2000. When Smoked: November 2023 Obtained from: cigar event Size: Toro (6 inches x 52) Approximate cost: US$10.00 See ratings below The original version of the Camacho Corojo was blended by Christian Eiroa, but Shifted over to Davidoff when the Eiroa family sold the brand in 2008. The tobacco is grown from Cuban Corojo seeds taken from Cuba by the Eiroa family. However, the Davidoff version sticks true to the original. Al tobacco is grown in Honduras, so this is one of only a handful of Honduran puros in the cigar world. This is also an all-Corojo tobacco cigar, another relative rarity. The wrapper, binder and three different filler leaves are all Corojo. The first thing to note is the wonderful construction. A Toro size, the Camacho Corojo is box pressed with a very smooth light brown (or dark tan, take your pick) color wrapper with a bit of reddishness. This is one of those cigars you’d enter in a beauty contest, if there were such contests for cigars which there aren’t. This is billed as a very full body cigar, but the smoothness and balance of the tobacco definitely takes the edge off. I’m going with 8.5/10 for body – if you shy away from powerhouse cigars, don’t let the other reviews influence you – this is not overpowering by any means. There is some amount of spice, but it’s mostly woody with wheat undertones, and some sweetness I would describe as raisin. A good tasting cigar. Construction-wise, it was a good ride but not a completely smooth one. Smoke production was very thin at the start – but that may have come from over-smoking (which I am prone to do). I put it down four or five times for 45-60 seconds and the smoke production corrected. There was some canoeing that required at least four touch-ups. I wouldn’t consider either of these serious issues. Overall smoking experience for the Camacho Corojo is a 8.5/10. This is a very good cigar. At about US$10 per stock it’s not a bad deal, and I have seen some promotions that bring it down from there. I’d give this one a try, especially if you haven’t smoked many Corojo cigars – it’s an experience all smokers should have.
