Hey guys, this is Shay here with etrailer. Today we have a 2022 Tesla Model S and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Torklift EcoHitch 2 inch hitch receiver. Adding a 2 inch hitch receiver to the back of your Tesla is gonna allow you to haul a couple of different things. You can use it for bike racks, which is what the owner of this vehicle is using it for. You can use it for cargo carriers. If you don't have a whole lot of space left over in the back of your car, you can always slap a cargo carrier on here and haul some additional gear or luggage on the back of that. Now when paired with trailer wiring, you can also put a ball mount in here and tow small trailers with it. Now one cool thing about this hitch that's gonna separate it from a lot of other hitch receivers out there is that this receiver tube is actually removable. So when you're not using your hitch or you know you're not gonna use it for a long time and you like that factory look to your Model S, because it is a good looking car. There's a bolt that you'll remove up in this opening. You take that bolt out, this receiver tube slides out and you can put your panel back and it'll look just like it is from the factory. This hitch is going to be your standard 2 inch by 2 inch hitch receiver tube opening, which is really nice because most accessories are going to be compatible with a 2 inch by 2 inch hitch tube opening. Our safety chain loops, if you do plan on towing a trailer, are going to be up here. So you want to be sure that you get safety chains that are compatible with it. You can see our clevis style is a little bit difficult to get on there, but definitely not impossible. So we'll show you that, there's our S hook on the other side. And then our hitch pin hole, the hitch pin and clip does not come with the hitch, but it is going to be a 5/8 inch hitch pin hole. We've got plenty of locking and non-locking hitch pins on our website. Now with this hitch you are going to get a max tongue weight capacity of 300 pounds. That's the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube. And a max trailer weight capacity of 2000 pounds to be able to tow those trailers. If you plan on towing a trailer, you want to be- remember that that is the weight of the trailer, plus the load on top of it. With those weight capacities in mind, you will want to check in the owner's manual to make sure that your Tesla is capable of handling those amounts and go with the lowest amount between the hitch and your Tesla. Now some measurements for you so you know what you're getting. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of our bumper is gonna be about 2 1/4 inches. I do like how the hitch receiver tube opening is perfectly flushed with this trim piece. It looks really, really good on the back of our Model S. Now from the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube, it's going to be 11 1/2 inches. You will want to look for accessories with a raised shank so that your accessories don't drag on the ground. We're also in the medium height suspension on this, so if you set your suspension to medium inside your Tesla, you should get about that same measurement. Now as far as the installation goes, this install is pretty involved, 'cause you have to take the rear fascia off the car and the hitch will mount to the back of the vehicle. It'll take the place of your crash bumper, essentially. I would recommend if you plan on doing this at home or trying it yourself, definitely back the car onto a set of wheel ramps so that you can get your car up in the air. There's a lot of fasteners underneath the vehicle that we'll have to get to. And we're on a, we're gonna be using our lifts here today, but you at home, if you're trying to do it on your garage floor, it's gonna be pretty difficult to slide under there. But other than that it's not really too bad. I'd say removing the fascia at home is a lot easier than trying to lift a hitch up underneath the vehicle with a vehicle that sits this low to the ground. But with that being said, let's go ahead and show you how to do it. To begin our installation, we're gonna be underneath the car. We're going to need to take a flathead screwdriver and remove this hitch panel. We'll just give our little screws here a quarter turn a
