Micing up nylon string instruments can be difficult, and given the wide rage of products on the market, knowing what’s good, can really help. Over the years I’ve tried out many different mics, but recently I’ve started exclusively using DPA microphones. Specifically, I use a d’vote 40 99G instrument mic. The d’vote 40 99G instrument mic is easy to use, quick to assemble, looks great, and most importantly, it really captures the subtle nuances of the guitar. It’s also worth mentioning that this mic is great for both live concerts and studio recordings. So you really do get the best of both worlds. Alongside its great sound, one of the big advantages the 40 99G is it actually attaches to your guitar. This not only eliminates the need for mic stands on stage but also gives you a full range of movement when performing. The Mic’s adjustable goose-neck is also a great asset as this allows you to experiment with different mics placements to get the best sound.
