Day 58 of reading the Bible in 365 days and sharing my SOAP journaling along the way. Today’s reflection is on Mark 9:23-24, where Jesus responds to a desperate father by saying, “All things are possible for one who believes.” The father immediately cries out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” These verses capture the tension of faith and doubt coexisting in the same heart. The man has faith to bring his son to Jesus, yet he is honest about his struggle and lack of belief. Mark shows us that belief is relational trust in the authority of Jesus, not confidence in ourselves. The father’s prayer becomes one of the most honest prayers in Scripture, an a confession that even our faith needs His help. Verses 23-24 invite us to come to the Lord with humility and transparency, trusting that He is compassionate toward wavering hearts and strong enough to meet us in our need.
