Hello everybody. Here is a video of the beautiful four-part recorder ensemble heard in the song “Stairway To Heaven”. I’ve heard some people suggest that Led Zeppelin used a Mellotron on the studio recording (an audiotape-based keyboard instrument, whose flute sound can be heard on the intro to The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever”). However, that is not the case with this song. It’s a four-part ensemble featuring bass, tenor, alto and soprano recorders, meant to evoke the sound of music from the Baroque era.
