Glenn Shorrock normally handled the lead vocals for the majority of the Little River Band's hits, but bass guitarist Wayne Nelson was the lead singer for the band's 1981 hit, "The Night Owls", and handled the duties quite commendibly. Nelson also wrote the song. "The Night Owls" became the band's fifth single to make the US Top 10. The song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, #33 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, #7 on the Cash Box Top 100, and #9 on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart. The song also made it to #46 in New Zealand, #22 in the Netherlands, and #18 in Australia. This is the single 45 version.
