Alan Jay Lerner, I Only Had One Ambition. That Was To Be Involved in Musical Theatre!

My video essay on one of musical theatre's colourful characters on and off the stage! Known for his collaboration with composer Frederick Loewe, he penned the words for Brigadoon, My Fair lady, Paint Your Wagon, Camelot and Gigi. A confessed romantic and workaholic, he strove for perfection, biting his nails in the process no less! A life long smoker, a habit that would ultimately take his life at 67. He was not easy to work with and proved elusive to some composers his worked with. He had a turbulent personal life, marrying eight times, all ending in divorce except his last marriage. My video essay charts some of his life and is not exhaustive in any way. I have voiced the story with Ai and the voices you hear are not that of the subjects mentioned unless stated otherwise.
